Karne Norte and Egg Fried Rice

It might be easier to eat CDO Karne Norte as a silog in the morning, but this way is just as simple, and even tastier. This fried rice comes together in a matter of minutes, with egg scrambled into the grains, and green beans and spring onions added for texture.

Karne Norte & Egg Fried Rice

  • 2 tbsp oil, divided
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 can CDO Karne Norte
  • 2 cups white rice
  • 1 ½ tbsp liquid seasoning
  • ¼ cup spring onions, cut into 1-inch pieces
1

Heat half of the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Crack eggs and scramble, cooking for 3-5 minutes or until set. Set aside.

2

In the same pan, add the CDO Karne Norte and cook until slightly dry. Set aside.

3

Take the remaining egg and crack into the white rice. Mix the raw egg into the rice until each grain is coated in egg and separated.

4

Add the remaining oil to a pan over high heat. Add the rice and cook, stirring continuously, until fragrant and dry and egg is cooked, about 5-8 minutes. Lower heat to medium and add the cooked CDO Karne Norte, scrambled eggs, and liquid seasoning to the pan. Stir together and cook until well combined, about 3 more minutes. Garnish with spring onions before serving.

The meatier strands go well with cheese and tomato sauce, and it’s a clever way to change up the way you usually eat your karne norte.

Karne Norte BBQ Pizza

  • 1 9-inch pizza crust
  • ⅓ cup barbecue sauce

Karne Norte Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce

Our favorite way to eat CDO Karne Norte is in pasta, hands down. While it’s easy to just pile it onto plain noodles, olive oil, and garlic, it goes well even in a tomato cream sauce. Add chili flakes and parmesan cheese for an easy Italian dinner.

Karne Norte Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce

  • 200g penne pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cans CDO Karne Norte
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • ⅓ cup reserved pasta water
  • chili flakes, for serving
  • parmesan cheese, for serving
  • basil, for serving
1

Bring pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta 2 minutes less than suggested in package instructions. Drain then set aside, reserving ⅓ cup pasta water.

2

Add half the oil to a pan over medium heat. Add CDO Karne Norte and cook until slightly dry and cooked through. Move karne norte to the side and add tomato paste to the pan. Toast until brick red in color, about 3 minutes. Add the heavy cream and mix well until combined.

3

Once mixture is boiling, reduce heat to low and maintain a simmer. Season sauce with salt and pepper. Add cooked pasta and stir together until well combined. Continue to cook until the sauce thickens, becomes glossy, and coats the pasta. If the sauce is too thick, thin out with pasta water a little at a time.

4

Remove pasta from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle pasta with chili flakes, parmesan cheese, and basil before serving.
