Having your own batch of spicy honey in the cupboard can improve your dishes. Just when you think honey is only limited to the sweet palate, this spicy variant is inspired by Gino's Brick Oven Pizza's Spicy Honey. The spice from the chilies may be strong but allows the layers of flavor in the honey to shine through.
Ingredients
- 1 cup honey
- 3 red chilies, halved and deseeded
- pinch of salt
Make spicy honey: Heat honey in a saucepan over low heat. Once it starts to boil, add the halved chilies. Let simmer for 3 minutes.
Store: Strain the chilies, or leave them in the mixture for spicier honey. Pour into a glass or heatproof container with an airtight lid.
Notes
Adjust your spicy honey's heat by using more or less chilies. If your mixture turned out too spicy, dilute it with more honey.
