Manam never gets it wrong with reimagining the Filipino cuisine. Even their humble appetizer, Manam's tropical take on the Ensaladang Namnam shines inexplicably, making it an easy all-time crowd favorite.
We love it so much that we re-created it. What's good about this is it only takes about 15 minutes to make and uses common and inexpensive ingredients. That's an absolute win, for sure.
Ingredients
Dressing
- 1 tbsp bagoong (shrimp paste)
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp calamansi juice
- 3 tbsp neutral oil
Salad
- 1 cup green mango, shredded
- 1 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup tomato, seeds removed and thinly sliced
- ¼ cup tinapa flakes
Toppings
- ¼ cup peanuts, crushed
- ¼ cup pomelo, segmented
- fresh cilantro, for garnish
Make the dressing: Whisk together bagoong, mustard, sugar, calamansi juice, and oil in a bowl until well combined.
Make salad: In a separate large bowl, add green mango, red onion, tomato, and tinapa flakes. Toss until all ingredients are well distributed. Add a bit of dressing, toss, and repeat until ingredients are well coated.
Assemble: Transfer salad to a platter. Top with crushed peanuts and pomelo, and garnish with cilantro on top. Serve.
