Before milk tea was even a thing, Quickly was already playing the cold-drink-with-boba game. Their thick concoctions are cheap, satisfying, and delicious—so much so that (we dare say it) we'd choose it over milk tea any day. This recipe hacks their popular Taro Ice.
Ingredients
Taro Pudding
- 2 cups water
- ¼ cup taro powder
- 1 tbsp gelatin
- 2 cups milk
Taro Ice
- 4 cups ice
- ½ cup taro powder
- 3 cups water
- cooked black pearls, for serving
Make the taro pudding: Whisk together water and taro powder in a saucepan over medium heat until powder is dissolved. Add gelatin and whisk until dissolved. Remove from heat. Whisk in milk until incorporated, then let cool to room temperature. Transfer mixture to a container and let set in the fridge at least 4 hours to overnight.
Make the taro ice: Combine ice, taro powder, and water in a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
Assemble: Divide cooked black pearls between two glasses. Add a layer of taro pudding on top. Fill the rest of the glass with taro ice.
